Majestic peaks
The Hajar range runs 700km down the country's spine. Jebel Shams tops it at 3,009m, with a canyon under it deep enough to have its own weather.
Tranquil wadis
Fresh water in a desert country. Wadi Shab, Wadi Bani Khalid, Wadi Tiwi — all swimmable, all a couple of hours from Muscat.
Pristine beaches
3,165km of coast on two seas. Turtles nest at Ras al Jinz; the fjords at Musandam sit at the other end of it.
